EXCURSION TO PETITE-TERRE
Description
Petite-Terre, located south of the island of La Desirade, is a micro archipelago consisting of 2 islets separated by an exquisite lagoon of crystal-clear waters, protected by a barrier reef. here, you will be able to observe up close an extraordinary wealth and profusion of marine fauna: sea-turtles, lemon sharks and a multitude of diverse fish species of magnificient colours.
This site which has been classified as a natural reserve is a veritable paradise, left to iguanas, to various migrating birds and to impressive colony of hermit crabs. Only 17 meters (50 feet) above sea-level and as flat as flat can be, its flaura consists essentially rosemary, purslane, roughbark lignum-vitae de romarins and seagrape.
Its access which is more impraticable than that of other islands, makes for an archipelago as yet untouched by the traces of modern civilization, giving it its wee-coined designation as "island at the end of the Earth".
From November to April we sometimes come across whales and sperm whales. We also are pleased to cruise alongside dolphins !
Programme
The programme is open.
This one day excursion is a mix of discovery and wonderment.
Only Terre-de-Bas is accessible to visitors, the second island being off limits in order to protect its fauna.
We will anchor in the lagoon alongside one of the most beautiful deserted beaches imaginable.
You will be able to to visit the Terre-de-Bas islet with its lighthouse, its fauna and particular flora.
We will also propose a diving in the lagoon and near the coral reef. For those who wish to skin-dive with flippers, masks and snokels so that you may swim among sea-turtles, sharks (harmless species) and multicoloured fishes
Optional, you will be able to indulge in paddling, kayaking,
scuba-diving (first dive or discovery according to you skill)
as well as other nautical activities. Do not hesite to enquire.
Meal
A meal will be served on the beach in the shade of coconut trees and around a barbecue.
Diverse dishes and desserts will be at hand. You need only to consult our menu.
